The Pro Bono Report is the definitive ranking of pro bono efforts across Am Law 200 firms. Published each July through the efforts of Law.com Compass and the editorial team, this report tracks the total number of pro bono hours performed both domestically and internationally as well as the average number of hours per lawyer and the number of lawyers who performed more than 20 hours of pro bono service for the year. Across 115 responding law firms, pro bono hours were relatively flat from 2023, and the investments still don't quite match levels seen pre-pandemic and in 2020. Pro bono work at responding firms totaled 5.12 million hours in 2024—compared with 5.15 million in 2023. The total for 2024 is also well behind the 2020 mark of 5.45 million hours. Nevertheless, firms tackled a range of issues last year. Below are all the rankings and analysis from the 2025 Pro Bono Report, including reporting and analysis on how firms are navigating what's become a changed landscape for pro bono legal services in 2025 and moving forward. The past three years of the Pro Bono Report can be found at the bottom of this page.
